How do you ascertain humanity’s purpose on Earth? Where do you even begin searching for an answer?
If we consider humanity’s purpose from the perspective of our original purpose or design, then we know we were meant to enter creation to uplift and enrich it, not only through our activity, but also through the influence of our inner radiation and way of being. This can be seen manifested in the countless contributions people make through fulfilling their individual missions, inventions that improve lives, acts of service that ease suffering, and everyday work that sustains society.
Purpose is not only found in grand achievements. It can also be observed in the small and often overlooked interactions of daily life such as the stranger who stops to help someone in need, the baker who feeds a community, or the mechanic whose work enables another person to continue their journey. Even the simplest task, when carried out rightly, can contribute something beneficial to creation.
Yet humanity has, in many ways, distorted its way of living. Much of modern life appears centered around pursuits that are disconnected from higher purpose. The endless chase for wealth, status, influence, or material gain. From this perspective, it can seem as though there is no true meaning at all, only people endlessly pursuing goals they have convinced themselves are of utmost importance.
However, even within this distortion, the usefulness of humanity can still be observed. If we pay attention to the smaller interactions and their ripple effects, we begin to see how human beings still contribute positively to creation. In the same way one can observe animals and recognize their beneficial role within the environment, one can also observe humanity at the most basic level and see traces of the same principle.
From there, deeper connections emerge: the positive impact of the intellect when it is used correctly, the creativity and progress that arise through conscious effort, and the influence of the spirit when a person remains genuinely connected to it.
